Historical Sites:

Cordoba, located in the southern region of Spain, has a rich history dating back to the Roman era. However, it is most famous for its Islamic historical sites, particularly from the period when it was the capital of Al-Andalus, the Islamic empire in the Iberian Peninsula. The most well-known site is the Great Mosque of Cordoba, also known as the Mezquita, which was built in the 8th century and is considered a masterpiece of Islamic architecture. Other important sites include the Alcazar of Cordoba, a fortress-palace built in the 14th century, and the Medina Azahara, an abandoned palace-city built in the 10th century. These sites are not only significant for their architectural and historical importance but also represent the cultural and religious diversity of Cordoba’s past.
